RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Kaio Jorge scored twice as Cruzeiro kept alive its faint Serie A title hopes with a 3-0 home win over Corinthians on Sunday.
Kaio opened the scoring in the 26th minute at the Mineirao by volleying in from 15 yards after Keny Arroyo's close-range effort was blocked by goalkeeper Felipe Longo.
Former Juventus striker Kaio doubled the lead just after the interval, pouncing on Arroyo's deflected cross to fire in from 10 yards.
Arroyo and Kaio showed sharp understanding and the latter played a through ball just after the hour to release the Ecuadorian teenager, who drove his shot into the top right corner.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 83rd minute when Jose Martinez was shown a straight red card for violent conduct.
The result leaves Cruzeiro third in the 20-team standings with 68 points, six behind leader Flamengo with three matchdays remaining. Corinthians is 10th with 45 points.
Elsewhere in Brazil's top flight on Sunday, Bahia won 1-0 at home to Vasco da Gama, Sao Paulo prevailed 2-1 at home to Juventude, and Vitoria won 3-1 at Sport Recife. ■
