TUNIS, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- A seminar marking the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held in Tunis on Friday, co-organized by the International Center for Strategic Security and Military Study (CIESSM) and the Chinese Embassy in Tunisia.
Dozens of experts, scholars, and politicians from both countries attended the event.
Badra Gaaloul, head of CIESSM, said the Chinese resistance against Japan inspired generations of Chinese people to build a strong and united nation. She added that China's wartime victory reflected a wider global struggle against aggression and oppression.
Chinese Ambassador to Tunisia Wan Li said both China and Tunisia had been important battlefields during World War II and should jointly honor history and the martyrs. He reiterated that Taiwan's return to China was part of the outcome of the war and the post-war international order, and thanked Tunisia for its support of the one-China principle.
Wan called for stronger China-Tunisia cooperation to promote peace, development, and the well-being of both peoples.
After the seminar, a photo exhibition showcased China's resistance against Japanese aggression. Participants said all countries should learn from World War II, cherish peace, and work together for global stability. ■
